RAWALPINDI: A former Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) in Punjab Chaudhry Sajid Mehmood has announced to leave Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), ARY News reported on Sunday.
Chaudhry Sajid Mehmood, who had been elected as an MPA in Punjab, announced to leave Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf today.
While addressing a press conference, Mehmood said that he had joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in 2008 and contested elections twice.
He strongly condemned the May 9 riots and said that the incident shook Pakistani politics and was widely condemned by the nation.

The former Punjab MPA demanded strict penalties for those who were involved in the May 9 riots. He also condemned the ‘anti-state narrative’ of the PTI Chief Imran Khan which also dented his political party’s popularity.
Chaudhry Sajid Mehmood said that he wants to seek pardon from the PTI workers as he cannot stay in the political party with the narrative.
On October 16, former federal minister Farrukh Habib had announced to part ways with the PTI and join IPP.
He was among the founding members of PTI’s student wing – Insaf Student Federation (ISF) – and also served as the minister of state for information in Imran Khan’s cabinet.
The former PTI leader made the announcement in a press conference at the Jahangir Tareen-led Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party’s (IPP) head office in Lahore alongside the party’s top leadership.
