MATHURA: A branch manager of an Indian nationalised bank has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly raping young Russian girl repeatedly since she came to India in September 2017.
As per Indian media reports, the 20-year-old victim from Russia accused the banker of raping her after inviting him to India under the pretext of friendship on Facebook.
According to the FIR, she first established contact with the man through Facebook in November 2016.

“The manager of UCO Bank’s Vrindaban branch, Mahendra Prasad Singh, has been arrested based on a complaint filed by the woman,” Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay Shanker Mishra said yesterday.
“He raped me and was in a relationship with several other women,” said the victim.
The woman has been sent for medical examination.

The young woman alleged that Singh threatened her with dire consequences if she disclosed his act to anybody.
Station House Officer (SHO) Kotwali, Subodh Kumar said both the guys were trading charges and only the investigation would reveal the truth.
This should be noted that India has a grim record of sexual violence. Government data for 2015 shows 34,651 rapes were recorded, but campaigners say the true figure is likely to be much higher given the social stigma that still surrounds such cases.
