ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) judge Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi’s sons have filed damages suit against advocate Mian Dawood, claiming Rs1.2 billion for the ‘loss of reputation caused by malicious campaign’, ARY News reported on Wednesday.
In the legal notice, Sayyed Mustafa Naqvi and Sayyed Murtaza Naqvi — sons of Justice Naqvi — have claimed Rs0.6 billion each for the ‘loss of reputation caused by malicious campaign’ against their father.
Referring to advocate Mian Dawood, Justice Naqvi’s sons – in the notice – stated that “during his questionable career, the lawyer has continuously defamed the individuals of high esteem and integrity, most of which are the members of the Superior Judiciary of Pakistan”.
“That it is well within the knowledge of the legal fraternity that the Defendant [Dawood] works on a particular agenda with ulterior motives, which absolutely subverts/violates the law and also the fundamental guarantees engrained under the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973,” the notice added.
Mustafa Naqvi stated that the lawyer sent a complaint to the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) against Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, in which he levelled ‘false allegations’ him and his brother – Murtaza Naqvi.

It is pertinent to mention here that a judicial reference was filed against Supreme Court Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi in the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) on Thursday, accusing him of “misconduct” and “amassing illegitimate assets”.
The complaint against Justice Naqvi was filed by advocate Mian Dawood for allegedly violating the code of conduct for judges of the Supreme Court issued under Clause (8) of Article 209 of the Constitution.
The reference alleged that the judge used his “influence to facilitate” his sons and a daughter studying abroad and to get “financial gains” from Zahid Rafique, a businessman.
