KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA from Karachi Mahmood Moulvi on Tuesday announced parting ways with party, ARY News reported.
Addressing a press conference here in Karachi, the PTI MNA announced that he is resigning from the PTI in light of the attacks on military installations during violent protests on May 9 in the country after the arrest of Imran Khan.
“I have never gone against, nor will I ever go against the army,” he said.
Moulvi further revealed that he might join a charitable organisation or form a new political party.
Who is Mahmood Moulvi?
Mahmood Moulvi served as Special Assistant
to the Prime Minister in the Maritime Affairs Department during the Imran Khan government and also worked as a Federal Advisor in the Ministry of Maritime Affairs of former Federal Minister Ali Zaidi.
In 2022, PTI’s Moulvi defeated MQM-P Moeed Anwar and retained the NA-245 seat, showed the unofficial results of the by-poll.
Moulvi received 29,475 votes after count from the 263 polling stations was completed. MQM-P’s Moeed Anwar remained second with 13,193 votes. The voter turnout in the constituency was 11.8%, the Election Commission of Pakistan shared.
The seat was left vacant after PTI’s Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain death in June.
