Mehbooba Mufti’s convoy attacked in IoK

SRINAGAR: President Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party Mehbooba Mufti’s convoy was attacked with stones in Anantnag district of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK) on Monday while she was returning from a shrine there.

According to the Indian media reports, Mehbooba Mufti had gone to a shrine at Khirram in Anantnag district to pay her obeisance and was returning to Bijbehara when the incident took place.

The driver of PDP president was hurt as the attackers pelted stones, whereas Mehbooba Mufi escaped unhurt.

Mehbooba Mufti is contesting the ongoing Lok Sabha election from the Anantnag seat, which she had won in 2014.

Mufti has been criticising the BJP government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s act in the Kashmir following the Pulwama attack.

Last month, Mehbooba Mufti had said that innocent men were hauled up from their homes in the Occupied Kashmir for interrogation and returned home only in coffins.

“Government’s repressive approach leaves young educated men vulnerable who are forced to take up arms. Stop using Kashmir to exhibit your sick chauvinistic nationalism. We have suffered enough,” Mehbooba Mufti wrote in response to martyrdom of a school teacher, Rizwan Asad, in police custody in Awantipora town, Pulwama.
