ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Saturday said Pakistan would continue to play its role and facilitate the Afghan peace process, ARY News reported.
“We firmly believe that a lasting peace can only be achieved if it is Afghan led and Afghan owned,” Shah Mehmood Qureshi wrote in a tweet in response to United States Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad’s tweet thanking Pakistan for efforts supporting the Afghan peace process and for re-affirming the understanding that ultimately Afghans, and Afghans alone, will determine their future.
On April 5, Khalilzad in a meeting with Qureshi had briefed him about progress in the Afghan peace process.
Khalilzad had also informed the foreign minister about recent meetings in Afghanistan and progress made in Doha peace talks.
