KARACHI: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Tuesday issued a show-cause notice to Nabil Gabol for making an insensitive comment during a recent interview, ARY News reported on Tuesday.
PPP Sindh President Nisar Khuhro issued the notice to Gabol, calling on him to explain his remarks within three days. In case of non-clarification, it added, organisational disciplinary action will be taken against him.
“Inappropriate conversation and use of un-parliamentary words are not the policy of PPP,” according to a spokesperson for the party.
The party’s spokesperson also emphasised that there is no place for such remarks or non-parliamentary language within the party’s policies.
“There is no place for using inappropriate words and non-parliamentary language in the party’s policy,” he said.
Nabil Gabol is under fire after a string of misogynistic and disturbing remarks which he has made on numerous podcasts.
In the video, Gabol used the example of rape to talk about being overpowered by the opposition and said some seriously disturbing things like “when rape is imminent, just enjoy it”.
Netizens, human rights activists and lawmakers all condemned the statement, calling it shameful and insensitive.
Taking to Twitter, Bakhtawar wrote: “His (repulsive) rhetoric belongs to his individual only & is in no way a representation of our party. In case it wasn’t already abundantly obvious- we absolutely & unequivocally stand for the rights & protection of women. Misogyny has no space in our religion nor our party.”
