Punjab law minister directs LEAs to take crimes against women seriously

LAHORE:  Punjab law minister Muhammad Basharat Raja has Thursday chaired a law and order session for the province and underlined the need to eradicate crimes against women by taking the complaints from women seriously, ARY News reported.

Law Minister of Punjab huddled the divisional commissioners and regional officers of police in the session today. The minister told the session that Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar is not happy with steps taken to protect women from sexual and domestic crimes.

Take seriously each and every complaint a woman files even if you suspect it to be malicious, he said.

Lodge the FIR even if it’s based on fabricated events, we will deal strictly with the perjurer later.

Let’s punish those involved in crimes against women, Raja Basharat said.

On the other hand, the law minister also ordered the subordinate law enforcement agencies to ensure foolproof security amid the cricket matches and the impending Chehlum of Imam Hussain (R.A).

Peshawar airport staff found making fake Covid reports

Separately today from law and order scene in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested six laboratory staffers at the Bacha Khan International Airport after it was revealed that they are allegedly involved in making forged Covid reports for travellers, ARY News reported.

The FIA team detained the laboratory in-charge and six other people suspected to be part in the forging of reports. It also seized fake reports from the Peshawar airport lab.

One traveller had a Covid positive report but he had gone to the laboratory and got his negative report instead and boarded the plan, FIA said. Both the reports were in his possession when FIA took him out of the flight.
