LAHORE: The Sahiwal Joint Investigation Team (JIT) is set to submit its report into the alleged police encounter that claimed lives of four including a minor, on February 20, ARY News reported.
Sources privy to the matter said, the JIT met today in Lahore, to review the so far probe made into the incident.
The meeting was chaired by Joint Investigation Team head Additional Inspector General (AIG) Syed Ijaz Hussain Shah.
“The JIT has completed its report and is due to submit it on 20th of this month,” the sources said.
According to the law, JITs are bound to present their report within a month, but in this case JIT head had borrowed time from the Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, to complete the interrogation.
The JIT was asked to submit its report within 3 days after the incident, but Shah asked for extra time as the matter was complicated and need time to file report.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Punjab government had assured heirs of Khalil, one of the victim of Sahiwal shootout, for the investigation report until February 14.
