Pakistan’s wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan was the Player of the Match in the semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 against New Zealand for his half-century.

The opening batter struck 43-ball 57 with the help of five boundaries. Moreover, Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam (53 from 42) put on a 105-run opening partnership.

Pakistan qualified for world championship’s final with a seven-wicket win. 

New Zealand, electing to bat, made 152-4 in their 20 overs. Daryl Mitchell stood out for last edition’s finalists with his unbeaten half-century. He scored 53 from 35 with three fours and a maximum to his name. 

Captain Kane Williamson struck 46 from 42 deliveries after hitting a four and as many sixes.

Pakistan’s left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi was the pick of the bowlers with his two-wicket haul. 

The 2009 champions chased the 153-run target with seven wickets in hand and five balls to spare. Apart from Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam’s fifties, Mohammad Haris struck 30 from 26 with two fours and a six.

Kiwi pacer Trent Boult bagged two wickets.

Pakistan will play the winners of the second semi-final between its arch-rivals India and England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday.
