PESHAWAR: Young doctors on Tuesday assailed Health Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr Hisham Inamullah Khan at Khyber Teaching Hospital resultantly leaving him injured, ARY News reported.
According to details, Dr Hisham Inamullah Khan and Dr Nosherwan Barki were reviewing facilities being provided to patients at the hospital. Some young doctors first assaulted Nosherwan.
Dr Hisham Inamullah Khan was holding talks with the young doctors when some of them used aggressive force against him. Security guards on this occasion intervened and protected him.
The minister warned that young doctors should not take the law into their own hands. Expressing remorse over the incident, he said some doctors were disrespecting the revered profession.
“I myself am a doctor. How could I think bad for them,” he wondered.

He said the doctor who attacked Dr Nosherwan was wielding a dagger.
Hisham said he got injured while trying to protect Nosherwan. He said the same doctor had tried to attack a few days ago as well.
On May 10, Ministry of Health, Punjab had decided to take action against all doctors and nurses that had refused to perform their duties till their demands were met.
According to an official notification the Ministry of health had asked for a list of all doctors and paramedical staff who were not complying with their duties and were partaking in protests and strikes.
Grand Health Alliance, a union of disgruntled doctors and paramedics had not been performing their duties as a sign of protest since past 10 days.
