KARACHI: Former skipper Shahid Afridi in a series of tweets on Friday preached patience to people in undeclared political situation, ARY News reported.
Amid ongoing political upheaval in the country and political leaders’ mud-slinging on each other, people of the country are forced to think about their and children’s future. While the situation is alarming in the backdrop that this is leading to making fun of Pakistan in the world, Afridi underlined in his tweets.
He expressed remorse over the controversy of Ayesha Gulalai after tumultuous situation due to Panamagate in the country.
He requested from media to play a positive role to cater to all these affairs.
The pinch-hitter wondered if the politicians were involved in mud-slinging just for the sake of getting hold on seats or they really wanted to serve the country.
“It is obligatory upon us to boost Pakistan’s respect and dignity all over the world, while we are making fun of ourselves in front of the world,” he said.
Afridi appealed from the media to do not give coverage to those politicians who are involved in giving derogatory remarks.
To a query, he said what a politician ought to do he was already doing through welfare works.
“The government needs to do a lot at grassroots level for education and health. Lack of education and employment hikes crimes in the society,” he said.
