ISLAMABAD: The former president Pervez Musharraf escaped an assassination attempt when a roadside planted bomb exploded at Faizabad bridge soon after his convoy passed by it, ARY News reported Thursday.
Musharraf, under a heavy security cover, was shifted from the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) to his farmhouse in Chak Shahzad in small hours of Thursday and hardly 30 minutes later a planted bomb on his route near Faizabad bridge exploded.
According to police, the blast was carried out through improvised explosive device (IED). Police said the blast aimed to target Musharraf.
A 2-feet deep crater was created at the site of incident. The law enforcers have begun probe into the foul play.
