KARACHI: Incensed over killing of a political worker Irshad Ranjhani in city’s Bhains Colony area last week, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has ordered removal of Karachi police chief, Additional Inspector General Karachi Dr Amir Sheikh over the incident, ARY News reported Monday.
The chief minister summoned provincial chief secretary and expressed resentment over police’s inaction on the murder.
In response to CM’s order for removal of AIG Dr. Ameer Sheikh, the chief secretary responded that Sheikh was a good officer. However, according to sources, the CM continued venting out his anger.

It may noted here that Karachi police chief, Amir Sheikh, had constituted a team, headed by DIG East Amir Farooqui and comprising SSP East Azfar Mahesar and SSP Investigation (Malir) Dr Farrukh Malik, to enquire into Ranjhani’s death.
Union Council chairman, Abdul Raheem Shah, on Feb 8 had killed an alleged mugger, Irshad Ranjhani, who was actually a political worker.
Earlier during his speech in the Sindh Assembly today, CM Shah said police officers, who witnessed the killing of Irshad Ranjhani, were also involved in the murder.
“Did the police not see Irshad Ranjhani lying in the pool of blood and dying,” asked the chief minister in his speech. He demanded the cops involved in the case should be arrested forthwith.

He had he also called for judicial inquiry into the matter within 24 hours. Ranjhani was shot five times from a point blank range, said the CM.
He said Irshad was being labeled as a dacoit from the day one and it was also being said that an FIR was registered against him. “If somebody is facing an FIR, take a gun and shoot him,” the visibly-incensed CM said.
Those who killed Ranjhani appear to have to no fear of God, he stated.
