PSL draft ends as national, international cricketers picked by five franchises

Renowned cricketing stars from Pakistan and across the world including Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, Misbah-ul-Haq, Mohammad Hafeez, Saeed Ajmal, Mohammad Amir, Chris Gayle, Shane Watson, Kumar Sangakkara, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Kevin Pietersen were picked by the representatives and coaches of the five franchises namely Karachi Kings, Islamabad United, Peshawar Zalmi, Quetta Gladiators and Lahore Qalandars.

The Karachi Kings had picked former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik as its top pick in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) which is currently being held in Lahore. Mohammad Amir, Sohail Tanvir, Shakib Al Hasan, Ravi Bopara and James Vince have already been picked by the side.

Many national and international cricketers were also selected by the franchises on day one of the draft.

The draft pick allowed the five PSL teams to select players from a pool of 310, spread across five categories: Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver and Emerging.

The PCB had earlier said: “Five players, including the two Pakistanis, have been given the added role of being brand ambassadors for the PSL and their teams, in lieu of which they will be paid an additional amount aside from match fee. These players include Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Kevin Pietersen, Chris Gayle and Shane Watson.”

  Round 4

Peshawar Zalmi chose Taj Wali and Umar Siddiq was picked by Islamabad United. 

Round 3

Karachi Kings picked Fawad Alam in the squad as their third pick in the supplementary draft. Ehsan Adil was bagged by Lahore Qalandars while Rameez Raja Jr. was selected by Quetta Gladiators.  Islamabad United picked Hussain Talat and Peshawar Zalmi chose Israrullah. 

Round 2

Karachi Kings went for Shahzaib Hasan.  Lahore Qalandars picked Mukhtar Ahmad while Aizaz Cheema was chosen by Quetta Gladiators.  Islamabad United selected spinner Saeed Ajmal whereas Peshawar Zalmi chose Australia’s Brad Hodge. 

Round 1

Veteran Sri Lankan cricketer Tillakaratne Dilshan was Karachi Kings’ first pick in the supplementary draft. Quetta Gladiators picked Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara while Peshawar Zalmi went fir Mohammad Asghar. Lahore Qalandars selected Abdul Razzaq whereas Islamabad United chose Ashar Zaidi.

Round 2

Wicket keeper batsman Saifullah Bangash was Karachi Kings’ 16th pick in the PSL draft.  Amad Butt was picked by Islamabad United whereas Peshawar Zalmi selected Hassan Ali in their squad.  Quetta Gladiators selected Bismillah Khan whereas Lahore Qalandars chose Adnan Rasool. 

Round 1

Karachi Kings selected all rounder Mir Hamza from the emerging category.  Islamabad United picked Ruman Raees while Peshawar Zalmi went for Musaddiq Ali.  Quetta Gladiators selected Naveed Yasin was chosen by Lahore Qalandars.

Silver category

 

  Round 5

Pacer Sohail Khan was the latest addition to Karachi Kings team. Muhammad Nabi was picked by Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi went for Abdur Rehman.  Pakistan’s one day captain Azhar Ali was selected by Lahore Qalandars and  Islamabad United chose England’s Sam Billings. 

Round 4

Karachi Kings selected leg spinner Usama Mir in the draft pick. Zohaib Khan was chosen by Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators picked Saad Nasim in their team. Umar Amin was taken by Islamabad United while Peshawar Zalmi went for Shahid Yousuf.  

 Round 3

Bangladesh’s wicket keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim was picked by Karachi Kings. Lahore Qalandars picked left arm pacer Zia-ul-Haq whereas Quetta Gladiators Mohammad Nauman.  Islamabad United took Kamran Ghulam whereas Peshawar Zalmi took Imran Khan Jr. 

Round 2

Karachi Kings selected Nauman Anwar in the side.

Peshawar chose Dawid Malan whereas Imran Khalid was selected by Islamabad United.

Lahore Qalandars chose Hammad Azam while Quetta Gladiators picked Asad Shafiq.

 

Round 1

Karachi Kings selected Iftikhar Ahmad as its first pick on the second day of the PSL draft.

Islamabad United chose Babar Azam while Peshawar Zalmi took Aamir Yamin.

Quetta Gladiator picked Bilal Asif and Lahore Qalandars selected Zafar Gohar
