Karachi: Six picnickers drown in sea, hunt for two ongoing

KARACHI: Four bodies of picnickers were recovered so far who were drowned in the sea in separate incidents on Sunday while hunt for other two was still underway, ARY News reported.

According to rescue sources, a body has been recovered from Gadani beach who was drowned in the sea yesterday. The deceased was identified as Tajamul Hussain, a resident of Orangi Town in Karachi.

In another drowning incident, Rayan and Hamad were swept away by a high tide at Hawkes Bay. The body of Rayan was recovered yesterday who said to be resident of Bahadurabad area of Karachi.

However, the body of another picnicker Hamad, a resident of Aysha Manzil Karachi, was retrieved on Monday (today) from the sea, rescue sources said.

Separately, the body of another drowning victim was recovered from Hub River. The deceased was identified as Osama who was a resident of Baldia Ittehad Town.

Meanwhile, the body of Azeem Iqbal could not be recovered so far who was drowned in the sea while swimming yesterday at Manora.

It is worth mentioning here that four people last week lost their lives when drowned in the sea at Karachi’s Hawkes Bay. Karachi, a coastal city, witnesses a number of incidents of drowning in the summer season, when picnickers swarm at the beaches with insufficient safety measures, to beat the soaring temperatures in the city.
