“An investigation has been launched against a British soldier on suspicion of aggravated sexual abuse of a child,” Hansjoerg Mayr, public prosecutor in the western city of Innsbruck, told AFP.
“The child is six years old… The soldier was arrested on Saturday,” he said.
Press reports said the soldier, who has not been named, climbed into the girl’s bedroom and abused her. The child’s father then came in, assaulted the soldier and called the police.
The reports said he was from the 7th Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery and was in Austria for military exercises in the Alps. -AFP
