After weekly prayers at the Cathedral Church, several welfare organizations took to the streets and raised slogans against the government. They claimed that construction on land belonging to a church will not be allowed under any circumstances.
They said that the church had been on Mall Road since the last hundred years and was a heritage site apart from a place of worship.
They alleged that government contractors wanted to demolish the church to pave way for the mega project and called the government to exempt the church otherwise they would increase the scope of their protests.
