KARACHI: The footwear exports from the country witnessed an increase of 14.55 percent during the first eight months of the current fiscal year compared to the corresponding period of last year.
According to the latest data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, Pakistan exported footwear worth 80.292 million dollars during July to February 2018-19, against the exports of 70.093 million dollars last year, showing a growth of 14.55 percent.
Among these, the exports of leather footwear witnessed a growth of 13.13 percent.
The overall growth of footwear commodities increased by 29.11 percent during the period under review.
Meanwhile, on year-on-year basis, the footwear exports witnessed an increase of 3.78 percent during the month of February 2019 when compared to the same month of last year.

On the other hand, the cement exports during first eight months of the current fiscal year from July 2018 to Feb 2019 period registered a growth of 52.30 percent to 4.65 million tons from 3.05m tons exported in the corresponding period of last year.
According to the data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association, the overall cement exports from the country increased by a healthy 69.07 per cent year-on-year basis in Feb 2019.
The cement industry exported 0.51 million tons of clinker and cement in February 2019 against exports of mere 0.301 million tons in February 2018.
