KARACHI: Airbus 310 of Pakistan International Airline (PIA), which was parked in an abandoned condition on Leipzig airport for months, has been sold in Germany, sources informed ARY News.
According to sources, the aircraft was sold in two parts. The engine and other internal instruments of the plane were sold to an international company for over $10 millions.
While the external body of the aircraft was sold to a museum for nearly 1, 30,000 euros, sources said.
Few months earlier, with the permission of the former PIA Chief Executive Officer (CEO), a Germany international, Bernd Hildenbrand , the plane was brought to Germany for a movie shoot. Since then the air craft was parked on Leipzig airport.
It is worth mentioning that under the new leadership of CEO Air Marshal Arshad Malik, the national flag carrier has earned millions of rupees revenue under the austerity campaign.
The national flag carrier has achieved the revenue of Rs12 million on excess baggage earning in January of 2019 while saving more than Rs2.5 million at Lahore station every month by relocating its offices.
The PIA has shifted different offices into its complex, which would save it money every month.
