TEVTA students’ fees raised by 50pct

KARACHI: The registration and examination fees of students of the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) have been raised by more than 50 percent, ARY News reported on Sunday.

The raise on fees of course for one and two years has been announced through a notification.

The fee for two years course has been raised from Rs500 to Rs1200, while fee on one year course has been increased from Rs500 to Rs1000.

Fees on other courses have also been raised up to 50 percent. The students of technical education will have to pay registration and examination fees in one go.

Parents have demanded from the government to withdraw the increase in fees.

On April 26, Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mehmood had said that skilled youth could uplift national economy through cost-efficient processes and fulfill the needs of industrial human resource (HR).

Shafqat Mehmood had said this while addressing the opening ceremony of ‘Job Fair and Skills Expo’, organised by the Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) in collaboration with the TVET Sector Support Programme in Karachi to promote workplace-based training. The TVET Sector Support is being funded by the European Union and the governments of Germany and Norway.

A large number of entrepreneurs, business fraternity and members of organizations of chambers of commerce and industry associations attended the event.
