The Facebook status, which was subsequently deleted from the social networking site, stated that “Blinks of Bicester are no longer taking bookings from anyone from the Islamic faith whether you are UK granted with passport or not”. She further said in her status that “Sorry but time to put my country first.”
The Thames Valley police arrested her after receiving several complaints from people. She was arrested under section 19 of the Public Order Act which clearly states that “use of words or behaviour/display of written material intended to stir up religious hatred” was an offense.
April defended her arrest and said that she was not a racialist. She also further said that she had grown up with “raga and patowoire language with Trinidad”.
The Facebook page has been subsequently taken down and other pages have sprung up, such as the ‘I won’t be using Blinks of Bicester’ Facebook page. Social media also reacted to the news.
