LAHORE: Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique on Sunday urged opponents to shun differences and unite in the face of global challenges the country is facing in the wake of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
In a series of tweets on social networking site, the minister said, “After the CPEC, our neighbour and many super powers have turned against us. They don’t want prosperity in Pakistan. Evolving consensus in the country is essential.”

He made these remarks against the backdrop of the latest statement by United States Defence Secretary James Mattis who said the One Belt, One Road goes through disputed territory.
“We are democracy-loving people and have never joined hands with any dictator for a moment. Confrontation [with institutions] is not our agenda,” he said in another tweet.

Rafique questioned when it was evident that enemy is besieging the country, didn’t opponents inside the country look awful. So, he added, all needed to unite in the best interest of the country.
