Occupied Kashmir observes ‘Black Day’ on India’s Independence Day

As India celebrates its independence day today, Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) are observing ‘Black Day’ in a protest to highlight India’s atrocities and illegal occupation of their land.

Kashmiris are making an attempt to convey a message to the international community of how miserably Indian government is suppressing them and depriving them of their right of self determination.

The Black Day is being marked by a complete shutter-down strike in the occupied territory, Kashmir Media Service reported. The strike was called by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.

To counter innocent Kashmiris’ anti-India demonstrations, Indian authorities, under the pretext of security measures, have deployed Indian army, paramilitary and police personnel in all major cities and towns of the occupied territory.

Authorities have also suspended mobile phone and Internet services in most parts of the occupied territory.
