LAHORE: Police on Monday arrested a woman allegedly involved in brutally torturing her 10-year-old step daughter, ARY News reported.
The law enforcers arrested the woman on complaint of area people in Samanabad who informed the police about repeated torture on Manahil. The woman used to beat the girl with iron rods.
They said screams of the girl had become routine due to torture from her step mother.
The police also arrested father of the girl. The cops said further action will be taken in the light of medical reports of Manahil.
Chairperson Child Protection Bureau Sarah Ahmed has also taken notice of the incident. She said the rescue team had been dispatched to take custody of the girl.
She was of the view that the affected girl would be moved to Child Protection Bureau after completion of her medical tests.
Last year, a video circulating on social media showing a woman slapping and beating an underage maid for making excess tea. The woman can be seen violently slapping the girl and shouting at her for making tea more than from required quantity.

A statement released from her office says the Human Rights Minister would need information about the location and also identity the woman who is seen beating a juvenile housemaid so that she could take action against her.
