SHARJAH: Karachi Kings cruised into Pakistan Super League (PSL) playoffs after thrashing Islamabad United by seven wickets in their must-win match here at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Karachi Kings and Islamabad United will clash again in the first playoff on Sunday.
Player of the Match, Usman Khan’s blazing bowling spell with four for 17 clubbed by Shahid Afridi’s two for 18 restricted Islamabad to 124.
Only lower middle-order batsman Asif Ali made fiery 34 off 14 with four 6s and a boundary, otherwise no batsman could leave a mark on the scorecard for United.
Kings’ Mohammad Irfan (junior) removed two players for 44, while Tymal Mills and Mohammad Amir took one wicket apiece.
Joe Denly (36), Khurram Manzoor (15), Babar Azam (29) and Colin Ingram (31) played their due parts with the blade to chase the modest total.
Earlier, Karachi Kings had won the toss and elected to bowl first against Islamabad United.
