In a notification issued today, the Sindh government announced the holiday on Friday, November 27, on account of Shah Abdul Lateef Bhittai’s Urs.
All provincial public departments, public and private educational institutes as well as autonomous bodies across the province will remain close on Friday.
Sindh observes a holiday every year on Safar 14, with regard to the birth anniversary of the sufi saint and poet of Indus valley.
It would be 278th birth anniversary of Shah Abdul Lateef Bhittai.
On the occasion, a ceremony at Bhittai’s shrine will be held, which will start by covering the grave of the saint with a chaadar – a special piece of cloth placed as a sign of respect.
Devotees from all over the country will come to attend the Urs for which strict security arrangements will be in place.
