LAHORE: Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) Chairman, Molana Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi has said that the killing of Molana Shams ur Rahman Muawiya and the incidents taking place in Karachi are a conspiracy to drive the state towards sectarian violence – ARY News reports.
Addressing a press conference here at the Lahore Press Club on Sunday, Molana Tahir Ashrafi strongly condemned the killing of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamat (ASWJ) provincial president, Molana Shams ur Rahman Muawiya and demanded the Punjab Government to arrest the killers immediately.
He said that Molana Shams’ killing and Karachi incidents clearly indicate that the country is being pushed towards sectarian violence and if the Government does not take measures to prevent such happenings then the state is feared to be met with a possible major disaster.
The Chairman PUC rejected the suggestion of transferring Dar-ul Uloom Taleemul Quran to some other location and said that until its reconstruction is not accomplished, Friday prayers will be held at the main road of the Raja Bazar.
He welcomed the formation of a judicial commission on the Rawalpindi Incident, CM’s fact finding committee and Government’s announcements to compensate the financial losses of the people during the tragedy.
