Three prisoners on death row were executed in Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan cities of Punjab while two such prisoners in Faisalabad and Gujranwala had their executions deferred.
Aijaz was hanged in Gujranwala Central Jail, he was convicted of killing a man over a financial dispute back in the year 1998.
Aijaz refused to payback a loan.
Another death row convict Amjad Ali had his execution deferred as his family reached agreement with his victim’s family.
Faislabad Central Jail witnessed the same as one convict Shaukat Masih was hanged while the other Abid had his execution deferred for a day due to his review petition in High court.
The executed Shaukat Masih was convicted of killing a citizen back in 2000.
A double murder convict was executed in Multan Central Jail. The convict Abbas killed his uncle and cousin over a property dispute in 1998.
Pakistan lifted the moratorium on death penalty on Dec. 17, a day after Pakistani Taliban gunmen attacked Army Public School in Peshawar and killed 134 students and 19 adults.
The moratorium, in force since 2008, was initially lifted only in terrorism cases. But the government extended the order in March, directing provincial governments to proceed with hangings for all death row prisoners who have exhausted their appeals and clemency petitions.
