Vegetable prices down

Fresh arrival and proper supply has pushed prices of vegetables down in the provincial metropolis Peshawar.

Prices of vegetables including tomato, onion, potato, and other seasonal vegetables have reduced by 50 to 70 percent in local market, while prices of ginger, garlic, lemon, and green chili remain stable.

The wholesale prices have considerable down by Rs 80 per kg and this has reflected in the retail cost as well. Tomatoes were being sold at Rs 60 per kg in retail stores. Peas are being sold at Rs 40 per kg, which were at Rs 120 and Rs 140 during preceding week, while potato price also reduced from Rs 100 per kg to Rs 40 per kg.

Similarly, onions are available at Rs 50 as compared to Rs 100 per kg during last week.

Prices of pulses remained high, as no significant increase or decrease was witnessed in retail market during the preceding week.

The rates of all brands of cooking oil/ghee were slightly increased. Similarly, chicken and poultry items also registered high prices, due to winter season. Eggs are available at Rs 130.
