ISLAMABAD: Justice Saqib Nisar will be the new Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) after retirement of the incumbent CJP Anwar Zaheer Jamali by the year end.
A notification, issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice on Wednesday stated that Justice Mian Saqib Nisar will assume the office on December 31st.
President Mamnoon Hussain earlier approved the appointment of Justice Saqib Nisar as the new CJP of Pakistan.
Justice Saqib Nisar presently serving as the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Born in Lahore on January 18, 1954 Justice Saqib Nisar obtained his degree in law from University of Punjab.
Justice Nisar will hold the CJP office till January 17, 2019.
The outgoing Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali served at the top judicial post of Pakistan for 15 months since his appointment in September last year.
