LAHORE: Former Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Yasmeen was found dead inside her residence in the provincial capital on Saturday, ARY News reports.
Police said the body of the erstwhile woman MPA was found in her home in Defence area.
A police official said the residents of the area informed the police after tracking down the source of pungent smell in the lawmaker’s residence.
When the police entered the house after breaking locks, they found the former lawmaker lying in a chair, he said, adding that her body seemed to be lying there for about four to five days.
The police official said as per initial investigation no torture marks were found on her body, and expressed suspicion that she might have died of a cardiac arrest.
He said they have begun a probe to ascertain the exact cause of her death and the body had been shifted to a hospital for medical examination.
Yasmeen was elected to Punjab Assembly in the 2008 general elections on a seat reserved for women on a PML-N ticket.
