Abdul Hakim Baloch presided over a meeting of the All Pakistan Combined Goods Transport Owners Welfare Association today.
During the meeting, the transporters requested the minister to increase the limit of sanctioned load for heavy vehicles.
The Minister informed transporters that a high level meeting will be convened in Islamabad in next 15 days to decide that how much load should be allowed to be carried by heavy vehicles.
Abdul Hakim Baloch told them that billions of rupees are annually spent on repair work of highways but the revenue received on account of toll tax is very low. He said that where raise in toll tax is possible with mutual consultation, reasonable increase in carrying load may also be considered.
He said that the load of 55 tonnes previously sanctioned by the NHA has been increased to 80 tonnes.
