Sindh’s chief minister in an hour-long meeting with prime minister expressed the province’s reservations with regard to Rangers special powers in Sindh and complained about the federal government’s interference in provincial matters.
The two sides agreed that the interior ministry’s notification on Rangers policing powers in Sindh will remain in effect. The reservations of the provincial government will be settled with dialogue between the two sides.
The prime minster during his visit of Karachi on Monday had invited Sindh chief minister to discuss the dispute between the centre and the province over special powers for Rangers in Karachi, sources said.
According to government radio, Sindh chief minister discussed overall security situation in the province during the meeting.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Sindh Finance Minister Murad Ali Shah and provincial Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal were also present in the meeting.
