Fake police official caught by traffic warden in Lahore

LAHORE: A traffic warden has caught a fake police official over violation of traffic regulations by a van in Lahore and handed him over to police on Monday, ARY News reported.

Ramzan, an on-duty traffic warden in Punjab’s provincial capital, caught a person who used to impersonate as a police officer.

The arrested person is identified as Ansar, who failed to provide his identification after introducing himself as a police employee after being stopped by the traffic warden.

A case has been registered against Ansar by the local police.

City Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Liaquat Ali praised immediate action by the traffic warden Ramzan. He said that wardens were put a strict check on suspicious persons in the city.

Earlier, Police had arrested two persons on March 5 who used to impersonate as police officers and loot citizens in the metropolis.

According to police, one of the held impostors was clad in police uniform while the other was wearing civilian dress.

The two were arrested during a raid in the city’s Ibrahim Hyderi area and fake identity cards, weapon and motorcycle recovered from their possession.

A police official said the accused used to loot motorists by intercepting them on the pretext of checking.  A case has been registered against them.
