None of the 90’s kids can forget ‘Ainak Wala Jinn’, the spectacled ghost who “haunted” our childhoods.

‘Ainak Wala Jinn’ is perhaps the most popular play aired for children in Pakistan and an all-time classic but did you ever wonder how the man who played Umro Ayyar in the play looks like now or what is he doing?

The character was played by Nisar Butt, one of the top stand-up comedians of Pakistan.

Here is how your favourite entertainer looked like in the play.

Butt, one of the most popular stand-up comedians of his time, is suffering from financial crisis and is awaiting government’s help.

Once a crowd puller, Nisar Butt is handicapped and can’t even walk out of his room.

“I cannot walk out of my room to street. Can the rulers not see, diseases and anxiety surround a person when he is unemployed. When one is unemployed and without support, he eventually moves closer to his death,” Butt told a Lahore based news channel last month.

Umro Ayyar cannot be called Butt’s claim to fame as he was famous as a stand-up comedian and a mimicry artist long before he played the ‘Ainak Wala Jinn’ character but today he lives by himself in a shabby flat on Lahore’s Khokhar Chowk.

Here are some of his videos where he mimicked all the famous artists of his time.

HERE IS HOW ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS ARTISTS OF HIS TIME IS LIVING.

It is pertinent to note here that Nusrat Ara a.k.a Bill Batori of Ainak Wala Jinn was found in similar circumstances until an organisation helped her.

It is time we start valuing the services of our artists and entertainers lest they become victims of our neglect.
