BADIN: Former Sindh Interior Minister and Grand Democratic Alliance leader (GDA) leader Zulfiqar Mirza on Monday said that he is not contesting elections against the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) but the party’s co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, ARY News reported.
Mirza, a PPP loyalist in the past is contesting against PPP’s Ismail Rahoo from PS-74 Golarchi, said that his contest is only with Asif Zardari.
“In this elections, I and Zardari, not PPP, are opposing each other tooth and nail,” Zulfiqar Mirza told ARY News adding that Zardari brought PPP’s rivals into party.
He claimed that he fought for PPP against the very people representing the party today in Badin district.
“I fought battles against these people for PPP and won, they (the current PPP candidates) were staunch opponents of the party, but today they are representing the party in Badin due to Asif Zardari. This time, they are Asif Zardari’s representatives but I will beat them again,” said Zulfiqar Mirza.
About the PPP chief Bilawal Bhutto and his sisters Bakhtawar and Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, Mirza said that he respects them and wishes them best of luck because they are late Benazir Bhutto’s children.
It is pertinent to note here that Mirza family of Badin will contest from five out of the seven constituencies in the district as the Grand Democratic Alliance’s candidates.
NA-229, Badin-I will see Hassam Mirza contesting against PPP’s Mir Ghulam Ali Talpur.
Dr Fehmida Mirza will contest from NA-230 Badin-II and PS-73 Badin.
Hasnain Mirza has been given PS-72 Tando Bago constituency while Dr Zulfiqar will stand from PS-74 Golarchi.
