KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) has been moved against the construction of ‘illegal portions’ in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal on Monday, ARY News reported.
Residents of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Block 13-D, moved the Sindh High Court stating that the construction of ‘illegal portions’ in the area is affecting the supply of basic utilities including electricity, gas and water to the legal localities of the area.
A group of 12 residents has also complained that the space of parking in the area is also squeezing due to ‘illegal portions.’
The Sindh Building Control Authority, Deputy Commissioner East and police authorities have been made respondent in the plea.

During the initial hearing of the peal, Usman Farooq Advocate told the SHC that illegal construction was being carried out on Baloch Para Plot No. A23 which is affecting the supply of electricity, water, gas and other facilities.
The lawyer of the petitioners further said that the 300-yard project also lacks a parking facility and despite numerous complaints to the SBC, district administration and the police, no action had been taken so far.
The petition calls on the court to order the demolition of illegal constructions so that the residents can take a sigh of relief ۔
Later, the SHC, approving the hearing of the plea on an emergency basis, issued notices to the respondents and summoned them on August 18.
