The case has now been referred to the larger bench for hearing on October 5.
The government counsel told the court that the matter was political and government was looking into it. The petitioner contended that a political party which worked against Pakistan could not be allowed to operate in the same country.
He said the MQM chief gave statements against Pakistan and some of their leaders endorsed them, hence the party should be banned. The petitioner also demanded to declare MQM lawmakers ‘ineligible’.
He was of the view that all MQM leaders who backed anti-Pakistan statements must face traitor charges.
