LHC stops Censor Board to exhibit Indian films illegally

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has stopped the Censor Board to exhibit the Indian films illegally, ARY News reports on Friday.

Justice Khalid Mehmood resumed the hearing of the petition in the court earlier today.

The petition, filed by Pakistani film directors and workers association, stated that Pakistani industry is on the brink of destruction whereas thousands of workers have become unemployed and the studios have gone barren.

According to the petitioners, economic problems are also increasing by the illegal exhibition of the films. It was further stated that Bollywood content cannot be exhibited in the country according to the law but certain elements import the films from Europe and Gulf states.

"The Censor Board allow the films to be released in local cinemas without scrutinizing the documentation", the petitioners stated.

The court stopped the Censor board to release the Indian films in an illegal fashion and ordered the Federal Government and the parties in the case to file their answers.
