CAIRNS: Pakistan have added left arm spinner Mohammad Asghar in its squad for the upcoming test series against Australia, ARY News reported.
He is brought as a replacement for leg-spinner Yasir Shah in case of he rules out due to a back problem.
Asghar is likely to join the Pakistani team in Australia soon.
The left arm spinner caught the attention of the selectors after his impressive performance in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
He will represent Pakistan for the first time in any format of the game in case of non-availability of Yasir Shah.
Yasir Shah missed out on Pakistan’s three-day practice match against Cricket Australia XI due to the back pain.
The doctor, after a medical checkup, advised the leg-spinner to rest for two-days.
The three-match test series between Pakistan and Australia starts on December 15 in Brisbane.
