PML-N MNA arrested for leading ‘anti-judiciary’ protest

KASUR: Police on Wednesday arrested a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA for leading an “anti-judiciary” protest in Kasur city of Punjab province, ARY News reported.

According to ARY News correspondent, MNA Waseem Akhtar Sheikh was arrested from Azad Kashmir for he fled Kasur after leading an “anti-judiciary” protest on April 13, Thursday.

Supreme court on April 13 banned former premier Nawaz Sharif from participating in elections and holding a public office for life.

Soon after the verdict was announced, a rally was taken out in Kasur. Led by MNA Waseem Akhtar Sheikh and PML-N MPA Naeem Safdar, the participants of the rally not only critcised the court’s judgement but used foul language against the judges including Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar.

Reports say leaders of the rally incited people to use profanities against the judges but also asked them to burn tyres and block roads.

The police had registered two separate FIRs on the applications of Advocate Major (r) Habibur Rehman and Constable Abdul Rasheed against the PML-N leaders and the participants of the rally.
