The meeting of Sindh Apex Committee was held in Karachi today with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah in the chair.
The committe decided to spped up action against facilitators and abettors of terrorism and heinous crimes.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah has reiterated to continue targeted operation against criminals and terrorists with full force.
During the meeting, Sindh Police and Pakistan Rangers Sindh presented their reports regarding law and order situation in the city.
The meeting decided that action against those sponsoring and facilitating the criminals will also be carried out without any discrimination and political consideration.
The meeting noted with satisfaction the increased cordial harmony and coordination between Sindh government and Rangers. It said that cordiality among all law enforcement agencies will be maintained at all costs so that law breakers involved in the heinous crimes could be brought to justice.
On the occasion, both the political and military leadership expressed their determination to continue the targeted operation against criminal elements and terrorists till its logical end.
The meeting was attended among others by Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, Corps Commander Karachi Lt. General Naveed Mukhtar, DG Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar, Provincial Home Minister Sohail Anwer Siyal, Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and IG Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali.
Later talking to newsmen after the meeting, Sindh Minister for Information and Local Bodies Sharjeel Inam Memon said Pakistan Peoples Party has majority in the Sindh Assembly and the Bill to extend special powers of Rangers will be passed from the Assembly without any difficulty.
He said Rangers have been given extension of one month for now and further extension in their powers needs approval from Assembly after the 18th amendment. He said our efforts will be to pass the bill from assembly with majority.
Sharjeel Memon informed that police and rangers are carrying out targeted operation, which have yielded very good results and crimes like extortion and kidnapping for ransom have decreased to a great extent.
He said steps are also being taken to identify the facilitators and financial supporters of terrorists and action will also be taken against them so as to root out terrorism.
The Minister informed that a task force has also been formed to provide technical support in the targeted operation while coordination with people will also be extended to further improve the intelligence against terrorists.
