ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly was on Tuesday was informed that monitoring teams have been formed to check any wrong activity in schools and colleges in Islamabad.
Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Tariq Fazal Chaudhary responded to notice moved by Asiya Naz Tanoli of PML-N regarding the increasing trend of drug use in government and private schools in Islamabad.
He rejected the facts and figures presented saying that it was based on a report on an NGO and no such case had been registered.
He pointed out the NGOs and media should demonstrate responsibility while highlighting such issues. He said a letter will also be written to the concerned NGO asking it clarify its position on the report.
The House also introduced the “Transplantation of human Organs and Tissues (Amendment) bill 2016” moved by Parveen Masood Bhatti of the Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz.
The House chaired by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq was transacting private members’ business and referred the bill to the concerned standing committee.
The chair also deferred ‘The Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University, Islamabad (Amendment) Bill, 2016″ moved by Naveed Qamar and Ghulam Mustafa Shah of the Pakistan People’s Party.
Tariq Fazal Chaudhary said that Prime Minister has approved a summary separating PIMS hospital from the administrative control of the university.
He said that the summary is with the Ministry of Law which will propose necessary amendments for complete separation of PIMS and Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University Islamabad.
He pointed out that the decision has been taken in line with the demand of the four thousand employees of PIMS.
The House was informed by Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Shaikh Aftab Ahmad that there is no shortage of fuel in the country responding to a point raised by Ghulam Mustafa Shah.
He also said that the delay in a flight from Karachi to Islamabad by the Pakistan International Airlines was due to an issue of liability between the PIA and the Pakistan State Oil.
Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan, parliamentary Secretary for Finance, told the House that the government cannot increase the salaries and pension of the government employees out of proportion.
He was winding up discussion on a motion moved by Parveen Masood Bhatti regarding to fix the minimum pension of government employees at fifty thousand rupees per month.
He said that development cannot take place by increasing non-development expenditures, and poverty can only be alleviated through the creation of employment opportunities for the people.
