MQM Pakistan decides to work with collective leadership, responsibility: Farooq

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan chief Farooq Sattar has said his party has decided to work with a collective leadership and collective responsibility.

“We all had developed a personality cult for the founder leader in 35 years. Now, we have decided that we will work with a collective wisdom, collective leadership and collective responsibility,” he said while talking to ARY News program ‘Sawal Yeh Hai’ host at his residence in PIB colony.

He said though he was the chief now but he had reserved very low discretionary powers for himself. He said they (MQM Pakistan leaders) had decided to run the party in a complete democratic way and in consultation with other party workers.

To a query, he said he did not like to have such a control over his party workers that they work in fear and under pressure. They should have a spirit to voluntarily work for the party for the cause of serving general masses, he added.

Farooq Sattar said they wanted to build a non-confrontational, non-violent and educated MQM.

To a query, he said after MQM Pakistan had dissociated with founder of MQM, Altaf Hussain had asked all representatives of the party to resign from their post, but none did so.

Even MNA Sufyan Yousuf who was abroad and announced his resignation but he did not send anything in written, he said adding that even those representatives who had joined Pak Sarzameen Party did not formally resign from assemblies as MQM Pakistan representatives.

The MQM Pakistan chief said they were firmly stick to their stand and whoever they found going astray from party policy they took disciplinary action against him.

To a query, he said he had no interest in displaying his pictures on walls (like the former chief’s).
