LAHORE: The Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) on Friday challenged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP)’s approval of Kulsoom Nawaz nomination papers in Lahore High Court (LHC) appellant tribunal, ARY News reported.

Kulsoom Nawaz has a number of allegations on her as she is going to contest NA-120 by-election in Lahore.

She is nominated in a treason case, which she never mentioned in her nomination papers. While, her Iqama is tantamount to having a second citizenship.

The appeal in the LHC tribunal has been made by PAT candidate in the constituency NA-120, Ishtiaq Chaudhry. He mentioned in his appeal that the bank accounts opened on the basis of Iqama were not shown in nomination papers.

The petitioner had presented all the above mentioned arguments before the ECP, however the arguments were found to be “baseless”.

He pleaded from the tribunal to revoke the ECP approval of the nomination papers of the Pakistan Muslim League-N candidate.

The ECP on Thursday approved nomination papers of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s wife and rejected all the objections made on her nomination.

The relevant Returning Officer said two petitioners made nine objections against Kulsoom Nawaz and all of them were rejected after thoroughly listening to the arguments.

Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader Asif Kirmani, while talking to media outside the ECP office, said two people made nine objections against Kulsoom Nawaz’s nomination and they were given maximum time as they presented “baseless arguments” for one and a half hour.
