Dr Yasmin inaugurates advance birth and death record system in Lahore

LAHORE: In yet another move to improve health facilities in Punjab, Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Monday, inaugurated advance birth and death record system in Lahore.

Addressing inaugural session, the health minister said that computerized record of deaths will pave the way to formulate long lasting health policy.

She said that government is people centered and its prime focus is to provide quality health services to general masses, as it is state’s responsibility.

Under this system, specialized doctors would determine the cause of death and consolidated data would also be shared with local government department and NADRA.

On Saturday (December 22) Dr Yasmin Rashid had said that dream of establishment of ‘Mother & Child Hospitals’ about to come true.

Addressing a ceremony held for fund raising for ‘Sir Gangaram Mother & Child Hospital in Lahore, Yasmin Rashid had said that PC-I of the project is being prepared and added that although the Punjab government would provide sources for the scheme however, any cooperation from philanthropists would also be welcomed.

Punjab’s Senior Minister Aleem Khan, Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU), MS Sir Gangaram Hospital Dr. Fayaz Butt and many other eminent figures were also present on the occasion.

According to a statement released from the ministry, Mrs. senior minister donated Rs2 million from her family besides millions of cash and cheques were also donated by different participants.

Yasmin Rashid told the audience that ‘mother & child hospitals’ would also be established in five districts of Punjab and added that the project is being appreciated worldwide.
