Bajrangi Bhaijaan actress sent to jail for two years

MUMBAI: Indian TV actress Alka Kaushal, who is also known for her roles as Kareena Kapoor Khan’s mother in ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and Kangana Ranaut’s mom in ‘Queen’, was recently sentenced to a two-year jail term along with her mother.

Apparently, the actress and her mother had borrowed Rs 50 lakh from a farmer based in Lagrian village, to make a serial but failed to return his money. Alka had handed over two cheques of Rs 25 lakh each but the farmer’s advocate claimed that they bounced.

The farmer had moved the Malerkotla court back in 2015, which sentenced them to jail. Alka then appealed to a higher court at Sangrur for some relief, but the additional session’s court upheld the lower court’s decision. Reportedly, the actress and her mother are currently in Sangrur district jail.

Previously too Alka was sentenced to jail for two years in 2015 which Kaushal had avoided by petioning the Sangrur Court. Now Sangrur’s district court upheld the order of Malerkortla court. Unfortunately, after two years, Sangrur’s district court decided to uphold the order of Malerkortla court.

Singh, who ran a floriculture business and befriended the actress during a shooting, then moved a local court in Malerkotla in 2015, which sentenced the two to two years’ jail.

Alka and her mother then moved the Sangrur court for relief, but the additional sessions judge of the court upheld the lower court’s order on Wednesday.

Apart from her Bollywood roles, Alka has also worked in Marathi cinema and several popular Hindi TV shows including Qubool Hai, Swaragini and Kumkum.
