CJ takes suo motu notice of Karachi airport attack

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Tasaduq Hussain Jillani has taken suo motu notice of Karachi airport attack in which 24 people had lost their lives, ARY News reported Tuesday.

The CJ has sought report of Karachi airport attack within two weeks. The Supreme Court made chairman Civil Aviation Authority and secretary interior as respondents and directed them to furnish report in this regard.

The responsibility of the attack was claimed by banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid was nominated in the FIR.

Security forces had recovered Indian-made weapons from the site.  The federal government had blamed Sindh government for security lapse that allowed terrorists to barge into the airport. However, the provincial government said it was the responsibility of Airport Security Force that comes under the authority of federal government.

Around 10 militants armed with heavy weapons had attacked the Karachi airport on June 8.
