Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline of filing of income tax returns and statements for the tax year 2018 until March 31.

According to a press release issued by FBR, the decision has been taken on demand of various trade bodies, organizations and other taxpayers.

All those individuals who have not yet filed their tax returns, have been urged to take advantage of this extension.

FBR has extensive plans to pursue and legally proceed against those persons who are liable to file returns but do not file it by this extended date, the press release added.

Moreover, in a bid to bring the scrap’s business at Shershah’s market  into tax net, officials of the FBR on Friday met with a delegation of ‘Kabari Market’ to take them into confidence ahead of crackdown against the tax evaders.

The traders’ delegation admitted that only 1,000 traders pay their taxes and assured the FBR of their full cooperation.

It is pertinent to mention here that trade deals worth millions of rupees are done on daily basis at the ‘Kabari Market’ market. Above half of the scrap’s traders are out of the tax net.
